Full Definition

The out-of-pocket maximum (OOPM) is the most an enrollee must pay for covered in-network services in a plan year. After reaching the OOPM, the plan pays 100% of covered costs. The ACA sets annual OOPM limits; in 2026, the limit is $9,200 (individual) and $18,400 (family).
