How a 340-life manufacturer rebuilt its health-plan buying strategy

Composite Case Study

This composite illustration combines elements from multiple completed engagements. Identifying details are changed to protect confidentiality; financial outcomes are reported net of the plan costs defined below.

Midwest manufacturer · 340 benefit-eligible employees · approximately 290 medical-plan participants

Baseline

Three consecutive fully insured renewals of 18–22% left leadership without a claims-based view of cost drivers or a competitive stop-loss market check.

Interventions

Three years of claims were modeled; eight stop-loss carriers were quoted; a regional TPA and optimized network structure were selected; the plan launched with $75,000 specific and 120% aggregate protection.

Measurement period

January–December 2024, compared with the incumbent carrier's January 2024 fully insured renewal.

Employee impact

The employer kept medical coverage in place while moving to a structure designed to improve cost visibility, maintain network access, and give employees a clearer path for questions during the transition.

Illustration context

This example combines themes and outcomes from multiple engagements; it is not a documented account of one employer. It is provided to illustrate a possible evaluation process, not to guarantee future performance.

Client Testimonial

Client Testimonial — Vexus Boats

Working with Corry Hull and the team at BHC Insurance has completely changed the way we manage employee benefits at Vexus Boats. Benefits are an important part of my role, but they are also incredibly complex, and I can honestly say I would not be able to manage this side of my responsibilities without the guidance, consulting, support, and service we receive from Corry, Annie, Lettie, and the entire BHC team.

What separates BHC is that they do much more than help us manage an annual renewal. They have taken the time to understand our company, our employees, our goals, and the challenges we are trying to solve. Corry and his team continually bring us ideas, challenge us to think differently, evaluate the market, and help us put the right combination of partners and vendors in place to make our health plan perform better.

Just as important is the support our employees receive. When someone has a question, a claims issue, or simply needs help understanding their benefits, we know there is a team at BHC ready to step in and help. That level of service takes a tremendous amount of pressure off both our employees and our internal team.

Vexus Boats being recognized with a 2026 Health Rosetta Rosie Award is something we are extremely proud of, and I attribute a significant part of that success to our partnership with Corry and BHC Insurance. The strategies and recommendations they have helped us implement have allowed us to build a benefits program that is more thoughtful, more sustainable, and delivers greater value for our employees and the company.

I view Corry, Annie, Lettie, and the BHC team as an extension of our team at Vexus Boats. They have earned our trust, and I would highly recommend them to any employer looking for more than a traditional insurance broker and wanting a true partner in their benefits strategy.
