Editorial Standards
How we produce, review, and maintain employer benefits content — and how we handle corrections, AI use, and vendor relationships.
Our Mission and Independence
Employer Benefits IQ exists to give employers, HR leaders, and CFOs the independent, unbiased information they need to make better benefits decisions. We do not accept payment from vendors in exchange for favorable coverage, rankings, or placement in comparison tools.
Corry Hull, REBC® CSFS®, is a licensed benefits consultant at BHC Insurance. All consulting and brokerage compensation is fully disclosed to clients. Vendor profiles and comparison tools on this site are produced independently of any commercial relationship.
See our full editorial independence policy for details on how we handle potential conflicts of interest.
Sourcing and Accuracy Standards
All regulatory figures (ACA limits, HSA contribution limits, PCORI fees, ALE thresholds) are sourced from official IRS Revenue Procedures, CMS Final Rules, and DOL guidance. We cite the specific publication when quoting regulatory values.
Benchmark data is sourced from publicly available employer surveys (KFF Employer Health Benefits Survey, SHRM, Milliman Medical Index, HCCI) and is attributed to the source. We do not manufacture benchmark figures.
Vendor data in comparison tools is sourced from publicly available vendor materials, direct vendor submissions, and independent research. Fields are labeled with data status badges (Verified / Vendor Supplied / Public Source / Needs Verification) so readers can assess data provenance.
Review and Update Cadence
Compliance and regulatory content is reviewed at least annually, and updated immediately when the IRS, CMS, or DOL issues guidance that changes the information. Pillar pages and benchmark pages display a "Last Reviewed" date so readers can assess currency.
Projected regulatory values (e.g., 2027 HSA limits, 2027 ACA penalty amounts) are clearly labeled as projections and updated when final guidance is published.
Vendor profiles are reviewed when vendors submit updates or when we identify material changes through independent research. Readers can submit vendor data corrections at any time.
AI Use and Disclosure
Employer Benefits IQ uses AI (GPT-4o) to power comparison analysis in our vendor comparison tools. All AI-generated analysis is labeled with an "AI-Assisted" badge. AI analysis is based on the structured vendor data in our database and the employer context you provide — it is not a substitute for professional advice.
AI is not used to generate regulatory guidance, compliance checklists, or benchmark figures. Those are produced by Corry Hull and reviewed against primary sources.
See our full AI use policy for details on how AI is used across the platform.
Corrections Policy
We correct factual errors promptly. When a correction is made to a published article or data page, we note the correction at the bottom of the page with the date and nature of the change. We do not silently edit published content to remove errors.
To report an error, use the "Report a Correction" link on any article or data page, or visit our corrections page.
Audience and Scope
Employer Benefits IQ is written for HR leaders, CFOs, benefits managers, and benefits consultants at U.S. employers with 50–5,000 employees. Content is focused on employer-sponsored health benefits — self-funded plans, pharmacy benefits, stop-loss insurance, compliance, and cost containment.
Nothing on this site constitutes legal, tax, or financial advice. Employers should consult qualified ERISA counsel and licensed benefits professionals before making plan design or compliance decisions.
