A wrap document (or wrap plan document) is an ERISA-required plan document that incorporates by reference the underlying insurance certificates, booklets, and benefit descriptions into a single compliant plan document and Summary Plan Description. Wrap documents are required for all ERISA-covered health plans and must include required ERISA provisions such as claims procedures, COBRA rights, and HIPAA notices.
